WHO IS THIS FOR?
Iodine is a vital mineral that is used by the thyroid gland to produce hormones, which aid in maintaining a healthy metabolism, regulating growth, and repairing damaged cells.
During diagnostic procedures and treatments that use radiation, some radioisotopes enter the thyroid gland and wreak havoc that can lead to complications, cancer and death. Therefore, it is imperative that the thyroid is blocked by stable iodine. This is achieved by ingesting a large dose of potassium iodide (KI) to protect the thyroid from unnecessary exposure to radioisotopes.
Children are notoriously known for refusing medication, especially if it tastes bad, so achieving thyroid blocking may be a challenge due to the horrible taste of iodine in large quantities and stomach upset that it causes when taken without food. We decided to solve this problem by introducing our lines of iodine-enriched foods and snacks with medicinal additives.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Our products are made with potassium iodide added during the manufacturing process. We manufacture several lines of products aimed at different age groups of children. The product variation is mainly due to the specific dosages required by children of different ages. We have a product for every age group between 1 and 12 years old, as well as 12 and over.
Our products are manufactured and packaged in such a way that it is easy to take the recommended daily dose of potassium iodide for successful thyroid blocking. In addition to containing accurate dosages, our snacks are also wholesome and delicious, carefully crafted to exclude any allergens and avoid any ingredients that may be problematic on religious grounds.
Our products are designed to appeal to children and make it as easy as possible for parents or guardians to ensure the children under their care are consuming the recommended dosage of stable iodine prior to their planned diagnostic procedure or treatment.

What does Superiodide and its ingredients do?Superiodide’s main component is potassium iodide (KI). It is an effective blocker of thyroid radioiodine uptake. For people or communities that are at risk in inhaling or ingesting radioiodines, KI is beneficial in lowering the risk of thyroid cancer when given in the appropriate amount. The radioactive molecules are prevented from entering the thyroid by KI and are instead eliminated in the urine as a result. It is also used for thyroid blocking during diagnostics and treatment using radiopharmaceutical drugs.
-
Who really needs to take potassium iodide (KI) after a nuclear radiation release? The FDA guidance prioritizes groups based on age, which is the primary factor for determining risk for radioiodine-induced thyroid cancer. As well as infants and children, those at highest risk are pregnant and nursing females, because of the potential for KI to suppress thyroid function in the developing fetus and newborn. It is recommended to treat them at the lowest threshold (with respect to predicted radioactive dose to the thyroid). Anyone over 18 years old and up to 40 years old should be treated at a slightly higher threshold. Finally, anyone over 40 years old should be treated with KI only if the predicted exposure is high enough to destroy the thyroid and induce lifelong hypothyroidism (thyroid deficiency).
-
Who should use Superiodide with caution or not at all?Individuals with dermatitis herpetiformis and hypocomplementemic vasculitis, two exceedingly rare disorders linked to an elevated risk of iodine hypersensitivity, should also refrain from taking Superiodide or any product that contains potassium iodide (KI). The presence of an iodine allergy or hypersensitivity does not always accompany a seafood or shellfish allergy. It is not advised for those with nodular thyroid disease to take KI. People who have autoimmune thyroiditis, multinodular goitre, or Graves’ disease should be treated cautiously, especially if the dosage is given for more than a few days. Consult a medical expert if you’re unsure whether you should take KI.
-
What are the potential side effects? When KI is taken in the prescribed amount and for a brief period, side effects are unlikely. The following negative outcomes are conceivable: • Skin eruptions • Increased salivary gland swelling • “Iodism” (metal taste, burning mouth and throat, aching teeth and gums, head cold symptoms, and occasionally upset stomach and diarrhea) • An allergic reaction can have more severe symptoms. Included in this are fevers and joint pains, as well as swelling of the hands, feet, face, lips, tongue, neck, hands, or feet; difficulties speaking or swallowing; and wheezing or shortness of breath. Prompt medical treatment should be sought in cases of severe breathlessness.
-
Should I check with my doctor before I take Superiodide?Just like potassium iodide (KI), Superiodide can be purchased over the counter. However, before using any of our products, we advise you to consult a physician.

ABOUT US
We manufacture foods and snacks enriched with KI (potassium iodide) for children undergoing radiation diagnostics and treatments, such as radiopharmaceutical therapy. Patients undergoing such diagnostics and therapy need to successfully block their thyroid gland with stable iodine to prevent unnecessary exposure to radioisotopes that carry the risk of cancer and other complications. Our food products help children take the appropriate dose by consuming tasty snacks enriched with KI.
-
Mission Our mission is to develop and distribute foods and snacks enriched with potassium iodide (KI) to help children undergoing radiation treatment or radiopharmaceutical therapy protect their thyroid glands.
-
Vision Our vision is to create lines of products to cater to children of all ages and provide them with light and tasty snacks, enriched with beneficial minerals that are easy to consume and help children achieve successful thyroid blocking prior to radiation treatment and radiopharmaceutical therapy.
Our products are a superior way to deliver stable iodine to children in need of it, in comparison to the existing pills that are harder to ration to children and infants. Our products are more palatable for children than the concentrated iodine pills and are easier for parents to introduce to children for the duration of their treatment.
